Some minutes ago, news broke that the abducted Chibok
schoolgirls has been rescued and are in the custody of the military in
Maimalari Barracks in Maiduguri, Borno State. Unfortunately, the story has been
confirmed false.
The Director Defence Information, Major-General Chris
Olukolade, had erroneously stated the girls had been released, only to issue a
rejoinder stating that the two bus loads conveying other girls
to the barracks did not have the Chibok girls who have been in captivity for five months. This was also confirmed by sources in the Borno State Government and Department and State Security in the state. Instead, the bus load was conveying some of the Chibok girls who had earlier escaped in order to convey them to their new schools outside Borno State. Madam Oby Ezekwesili who has been at the head of the #BringBackOurGirls campaign has taken to Twitter to voice her concerns....
